GIANT Perler Beads List {fuse beads, fused beads}

In today's post: find more than 100 models of Pearl pearls for hours of fun! Princesses, super heroes, animals, video game heroes and more!

One of my kids' favorite indoor activities is designing with Perler beads (aka melty beads or fuse beads). Whenever we need a quiet activity that, I know, will make them borrow for a good time, we pull out the perlers and let them go to town! My third and sixth graders will sometimes spend more than an hour dreaming about their drawings or copying models they have found online.

Since there has been a lot of extra time at home lately, we were looking for the best Pearl pearl models we can find and I got to the FANTASTIC resource: I was writing articles. Kandi Patterns is available in thousands of Pearler's pearl patterns that kids can use for free to create their favorite characters. We are talking about Star Wars heroes, princesses, all kinds of animals, video game heroes, super heroes and even Kawaii heroes (who my daughter loves!). Over the past week, we spent hours combing all the models to find my favorites, and I've summarized them below.

Where to Find Pearl Beads

In case you are not familiar with Pearl beads, these are small beads that have almost every color imaginable. Kids can mount beads on plastic pegboards that hold the beads in place. Once the design is complete, you iron over the beads and melt them enough to blend together. It is cool!

You can buy Perler brand beads at most craft stores and online. When I realized how much my kids love working with beads, I decided to order a large set with MANY different colors. You can get it Pearl brand bead sets having 4,000 beads in 8 different colors but since I already knew that my kids love melting beads and using many of them, I ordered another brand with 22,000 beads. It had more than 5 times more beads and colors, about twice the cost. The kit I purchased is not available right now, but you can browse the "fuse beads" on Amazon to see what kits are available. The branded beads you buy work just as well as real Perler beads. If the kit you are buying does not come with pin boards, you will also need them (most kits have at least some pins, but you can order bigger here).

One tip – buy "sorted" beads delivered by color, NOT a huge bowl mixed up. Sorting that many pearls must be one of Dante's hell bows. If serious, don't do it.

Lastly, if you are buying a large set of melty balls, make sure the kit includes a good storage container. If not, try these plastic organizers – We now have 4 of them full of beads and they work great to keep the colors separated!

One last note – I think fuse beads are best for ages 7 to 12. Younger children are likely to become frustrated because it takes quite a bit of hand-eye coordination to complete the design.

100+ Melty Pearls Patterns

Ok, time for models! I have fired over 100 models in 9 different categories for you and your kids to enjoy. All models have originated I was writing articles and images are used here with permission. Please click on the links below each graph for individual models. Once you've clicked through, you'll find a print button below each model so you can print them if you want (my kids usually just leave this model open on the iPad and work from it). These patterns act as a cross-stitch pattern: count the squares and add the beads as shown in the figure. These models also have suggested colors, but kids definitely don't need the exact colors on offer – they can use anything similar to them.

If you're looking for a specific model that I haven't listed, look for it I was writing articles and see if anyone has created it!
